People know well the Japanese tempura but did you know that was the Portuguese that intruduced to Japan that way of cooking?
The name "Tempura" came from the Portuguese word "temporas" that was a
religious time that was forbidden to eat any kind of meat, so people
fried often vegetables with flour and egg, Japanese adapted later this
to their own way of cooking.
This is a simple dish called "Peixinhos da Horta" (Little fish of the Garden)
ingredients:
300 g of green beans undercooked
Oil for frying
For the batter
100 g cake flour
1 egg
salt and pepper q.s.
preparation:
Pour the flour into a bowl and add enough water to it to get a batter neither too liquid nor too thick. Add the beaten egg, season with salt and pepper. Pass the green beans in the the batter and fry them in hot oil, place on paper towels to absorb the oil.
